Description Lord Alfred Douglas - Bosie - was a 20 year old Oxford undergraduate, the third son of the Marquess of Queensberry, famous for formulating the rules of boxing. Bosie was blond, spoilt extravagant, and when crossed, wilful and vindictive. He was a passionate fan of Wilde's after reading the Picture of Dorian Gray. Wilde was smitten with his looks and flattered by his adoration. However their affair did not begin in earnest until 1892 when Douglas appealed to Wilde for help with a blackmailer and Wilde went to Oxford staying in Douglas's rooms for the weekend. For a year they were inseparable.
