Description Spellbound is a compassionate, witty play about the effect of romantic passion on ordinary lives. It is also about people who are spellbound by their fear of opening up to each other, about their unconscious cruelty and about their desperation for love. The play is set in South Australia's Riverland, and concerns a family who own an orange orchard. The story centres around Sylvia, who has married into the family and who has an affair with her husband's friend. The consequences of the affair affect everyone but most importantly Annie, Sylvia's young sister-in-law who in the end finds herself alone for the first time in her life.
