| Description |
First staged in 1976, the play is an account of a doomed family party held in Newcastle on Friday 13 February, the eve of the eldest son's entrance into a seminary, and the fall of Singapore. It is a portrait of family interdependence and the Irish-Australian heritage of romanticism, ebullient humour, guilt and vulnerability. |
