Description Love, passion, desire, anger and jealousy are what good tragedies are made of and Shakespeare's Othello has all of this and more. Much more. Othello is an outsider, a Moorish nobleman who suffers both personally and socially due to the colour of his skin,
his customs and beliefs. In spite of his race or perhaps due to it, Othello and Desdemona fall desperately in love. They challenge Elizabethan etiquette with their unruly elopement and begin their life together as devoted partners. Such happiness is gradually destroyed by feelings of distrust.
