| Description | Kid Stakes: Set in 1937, the play is a joyful portrait of the summer of the first doll. Chance encounter brings Olive and emma, Roo and barney into the shabby Carlton terrace to begin a seventeen-year journey of seasonal love and argument.
Other Times: 1945, and how war and a winter of discontent becomes a turning point in the lives of all of them. It is the fulcrum of the three plays; during it the characters stop being kids and become adults. Summer of the Seventeenth Doll: The play which changed the history of Australian drama. The two cane-cutters, Roo and barney, returning each lay-off period like "eagles flying down out of the sun" to Carlton and to Olive and Emma. Their only enemy is time itself. |
