The Terror of Tosca was a radical interrogation of the dramatic and musical structures employed by Puccini in his opera Tosca. The work explores how opera reveals its peculiar function: to seduce by means of aesthetic pleasure and music. Its focus is on the aesthetics of speed - the exhilaration of pressed tempos. And it considers the particularly thorny question of gender representation and its theatrical treatment.
