"a circus atmosphere in its set and costumes. We are not trying to be real Italians, but stage Italians, borrowing those elements of another nation's temperament as we perceive and translate them to our use. Key-words to our presentation will include gusto, open-heartedness, warmth, fierce loyalty, physicality, a sense of holiday, fiesta, mischief, gossip, practical jokery, sentimentality, pride, revenge, forgiveness, generosity.
