Description The time: Late in the 1880's. The entire action takes place in the morning room of the Day home in Madison Avenue. Act I, scene 1, Breakfast time. Act I, scene 2, Tea time the same day. Act II, scene 1, A week later - Sunday after church. Act II, scene 2, Breakfast two days later (during scene 2, the curtain is lowered to denote a lapse of 3 hours). Act III, scene 1, mid-afternoon, a month later. Act III, scene 2, breakfast the next morning.
