Description |
From Press Release: "An island cruise into the turbulant space between Polynesian cross-gender and Western queer performance."
From Performance Space database:
"'Fa'afafine' means literally 'like a woman', and is the Samoan term for males who take on the female role - a common practice in much of Polynesia. Fa'afafine was a solo work taking the fa'afafine as an icon of in-between-ness, written and performed by exciting young theatre maker, Brian Fuata, working with director Nigel Kellaway. The commission was inspired in 1996 during the creation of Going Home for the inaugural Pacific Wave |
