Description A production which sought to emphasise the class distinctions within the play, and the rise in the fortunes of Lopakhin in parallel with the fall of those of Ranevskaya and her family - and their position 'perched precariously between the weight of the past and the relentless momentum of progress. Their fate is that of every age - to see the orchards of their youth cut down to make way for the future.'
