|Event||Smudge – Phillip Adam’s Ballet Lab||
|Venue||Melbourne, Melbourne, VIC|
|Description||Smudge was an inaugural 30-day installation created through the collaboration of artist Brook Andrew and PABL Artistic Director Phillip Adams. Smudge was developed in partnership with RMIT Design Hub.
Phillip Adams and Brook Andrew embarked upon a radical collaboration, through which they surrendered their usual artistic expression to swap cultural identities and artistic responsibilities. Hence, the choreographer becomes the artist, and the artist the choreographer. Via a set of rigorous rules, an exploration of the known trajectory of Adams and Andrew is smudged and erased, to allow for new creative and cultural possibilities.
Smudge that marks new territory, not only through new collaborative process and artistic language, but as a creative partnership between artists and creative institutions to explore crossways through research, experimentation, cultural values and commentary of Australian and international culture.
