| Description | 'Matsuri', meaning 'festival' in Japanese, was inspired by the ancient system of telling time. In Japanese villages the beginning and the end of each day was marked by the playing of drums and gongs.
"This event features Synergy Percussion and guests performing on traditional Japanese instruments. It also incorporates the mesmeric work of Butoh dancer and choreographer Chin Kham Yoke alongside a new composition by Michael Askill which combines all performers. Included in the programme will ne 'Yataibayashi' for Japanese taiko, arranged specially for Synergy by Japanese master drummer Sen Amano." |
