Description The Popular Mechanicals takes six characters from A Midsummer Night's Dream, and gives them a life of their own. Among the fairies and lovers of Shakespeare's magical play are the "rude mechanicals" who stage an amateurish play for the royal wedding. The Popular Mechanicals traces their adventures behind the scenes and concerns their plight when Bottom is turned into an ass and the company decides to find a replacement actor.
