The breathtakingly graceful Mark Brinkly, formerly of the Australian Ballet, will be the featured guest artist in Duprada Dance Company's production of Delibes' comic masterpiece Coppelia. with its original choreography by Arthur Saint-Léon. The story revolves around a deranged toy maker called Doctor Coppelius who builds a lifelike doll (Coppelia) and convinces a local peasant boy, Franz, into believing that she is real. Franz becomes enraptured by the beautiful but aloof Coppelia and neglects and humiliates his fiancé Swanilda in the process. |
