This was a rehearsed reading of Julie Janson's play 'Gungies', which examined the issues of the Koori people and the gungies (aboriginal word for police). The play was set in Redfern and in a ficticious outback town 'Wilga'. The piece was written through a group process with Koori students from the Aboriginal Education Assistance Program at Sydney University, and the Aboriginal Education Unit at Liverpool College of TAFE, as well as independent research. |
