Description Emma's Nose is loosely based on true events and real people. It's 1895 and a dominant voice in psychiatry is the seriously deranged Wilhelm Fliess who believed that most phychoses (including masturbation) are caused by the mucus lining of the nose and that treatment as such is as easy as a nose job.
