Description Programme: "Soundings is a performance of recent work by four Sydney writers who are exploring new aspects of spoken language. The texts range from poetic through narrative deconstruction and move into aspects of theatre that have been dominated by the roles of actor/actress. The work of these four artists presents key departures from the sense of reading conveyed through traditional poetry and fiction ... In Soundings the objective voice is devalued in favour of a concentrated use of aural aspects of speech, the vocal gesture of delivery in text"
