| Description |
Early in its history the officers of the N.S.W. Corps had assumed a dangerous control over the economic, political and legal affairs of the colony. By 1806, inspired by the retired captain John MacArthur (our text-book hero) they had already broken the hearts of two Governors. Hunter had been recalled and King had written resigning his post. In that year William Bligh arrived to take over the Governorship and re-organise the colony. |
