Description The Garden was decorated with local botanical specimens that were subdued in colour, but 'under the translucent rays of a number of Chinese lanterns [they] exhibited a pantomimic gorgeousness which could have turned Williamson and Musgrove green with envy.' Prof. Shaw 'kept his audience in a state of mingled admiration and astonishment.'
