| Description |
A 'slum comedy' set in inner Melbourne. "Esson downgrades his poor and intellectual to the character of Chopsey Ryan, an unsuccessful thief...a street musician, a pessimist philosopher. His poetry is in his street ballads and his philoposphy extends no further than a conviction that he knows how to handle a woman. He is given his marching orders by his de facto, Katie, when a better lover, Bongo, gets out of jail. |
