A unique performing arts phenomenon evoking powerful images of creation and evolution, life and death, it's home grown blend of experimental theatre and modern dance, called butoh, borrows from a variety of sources ranging from sculpture, German Expressionism, to the centuries-old kabuki, noh and traditional Japanese folk dance. |
