| Description |
Salia ni Seydou is a celebrated seven-member company from the West African nation of Burkina Faso...It blends African ritual with evocative contemporary imagination...Weeleni - the Call is their fourth major work and is made up of a trio of solos, "Waati - the time"; "femininmasculin" and "gestes", each choreographed by a different dancer, but the whole is a seamless work of physical and musical expression...Their choreographic vocabulary is based on a radical exploration of the body, and of the self, not expressing shared social traditions, but essentially subjective. |
