| Description |
The play traces the life of Vincent van Gogh and the battle for recognition of himself as a person and an artist against the rejection (real or imagined) of his mother and the women he sought to love. It examines the psychology of this brilliant and tortured man, and the existential loneliness of the creative artist. It questions the generally-held belief of his insanity. |
