Description Reviewer's opinion: "William Yang's show is about gay and lesbian Sydney and the lives of several men. It is in the folk tradition of the slide-night framed in the theatre as art. a performance of cultural interchange."

From Performance Space database:
"? I left Brisbane in 1969 and came to live in Sydney. It so happened that the time I arrived coincided with the beginning of the post-Stonewall gay movement in Australia. I don?t think I ever consciously made a decision to come out; I was swept along by the tidal wave of change that occurred at the time.? William Yang

From the Performance Space 1998 program:
'Friends of Dorothy' tells the story of photographer William Yang's life in the gay and lesbian community of Sydney, tracing its ups and downs over nearly 30 years. It is the story of gay sex and of the changing attitudes to sex, from the wild permissive seventies to the safe, sometimes unsafe, and paranoid, nineties.
