Description |
In the years before World War II, France and Europe as a whole were reigning over colonial empires covering most of Africa and the West Indies. In Paris during the 1920's poet Aime Cesaire and his friends founded the notion of "Negritude". Cesaire wrote "Notebook of a Return to my Native Land", a seminal text in the renaissance of black diginty and pride throughout the world. |
