Description | Three grown daughters trapped psychologically and socially on the family's wheat farm on some western plain - shades of Chekov. "Peter, a poet and school teacher boards with the Dennisons, a farming family. He meets all three daughters and falls in love with Margaret, who is dying. When Dennison tries to prevent his youngest daughter, Kerry, from going out with the local squatter's son she tells him of Margaret's fatal illness and he collapses with a heart attack. Peter decides to resign from teaching and stay on in the house to write". |
