Description Grand opera - the action takes place in the ancient Egyptian cities of Memphos and Thebes at the time of the Pharaohs. Egypt and Ethiopia are at wr and Aida, the daughter of the Ethiopian King Amonasro, has been captured by the Egyptians and is now the slave of the Egyptian princess Amnesia. Aida has fallen in love with Radmes, a captain in the Egyptian army, and he loves her. But Amneris also loves him ….

Further Information With the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Vladimir Vais, Foster's Auckland Brass Band, The Band of the Royal New Zealand Artillery and Trumpets from Auckland schools, and the Aida Chorus. One-off performance, to a crowd of 30,000. Production played in Auckland, Singapore and Perth. The one-off 'spectacular' staging turned into a disaster with fans fuming that they were unable to see
