| Description |
The title - Buried Venus - proves increasingly appropriate as a number of males of all ages seek the females missing from thier lives: the mothers who went out to the ball after lulling their baby boys to sleep, the adolescents who are just finding out how flirting lead to other things but not always, the lovers who were so lyrical, the spouses who have died. The Festival is proud to premiere this new work, which uses the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice as a departure point. 'The misunderstanding between and within the sexes is the space where the action takes place. It is a space filled with longing, hilarity, misunderstanding, blame, love, fear, violence. And avoidance. In this void lurk strange and wonderful dances.' - Douglas Wright. |
