The Night Banquet is inspired by the beautiful tenth-century scroll called Night Revels at Han Xizai's.The opera tells the story of the last Tang emperor from the south who in losing power to the Song Dynasty sends the court artist,Gu Hongzhong,to see Han Xizai,hoping he could save his empire. |
