| Description |
The Women's Jail Project takes place in an abandoned Women Refractory, alongside the old Sunbury Lunatic Asylum, near Melbourne. This site-specific performance explores the different ways we have classified and treated mad and bad women. The Refractory was closed about ten years ago, after a century of operation but this week the lights in the old red brick building will be burning again and its corridors will reverberate with the stories of women who had been inmates there. |
