| Description |
Loosely based on Nikolai Gogol's short story of the same name, The Overcoat is a brilliant and comic piece of physical theatre. The 22-member cast combines intricate, stylised movement with the richly textured music of Dmitri Shostakovich to tell a moving and compelling story. A modern isolated Everyman, played by Peter Anderson, breaks away from his station in life when he has a magnificent overcoat tailored for him, only to have his newfound freedom tempered by fate with unexpected results. An award-winning set, haunting lighting, and period costumes create a world of splendour and madness in this innovative masterpiece. |
