theatremaker Van Badham’s latest collaboration with the five.point. one ensemble is an adaptation of Sheridan La Fanu’s 1872 Gothic novella, Carmilla. La Fanu’s dark tale of an isolated family’s infiltration by a vampire is a means for Badham to explore contemporary Australian political themes of predation of the weak by the powerful, the vulnerability of the sick and the dysfunction of a divided society. |
