Description "Kai Tai Chan's anti-war piece "The Other Side of Silence" dramatically attempts to balance the unheard voices of Australian Vietnam veterans with those of the Vietnamese who migrated to this country as refugees. To accent the disadvantage and reality of many migrant people, the Vietnamese transcript has been untranslated. Excerpts of interviews with Vietnam veterans have been taken from "Ashes of Vietnam".

While acknowledging that war cripplingly affects all, Kai Tai Chan seeks to challenge the prevailing American version of the war by presenting at least a glimpse of the 'unheard' pain of the Vietnamese - that other side of the silence."
