| Description |
Jonathan Jones is an artist from the Wiradjuri and Kamilaroi nations of south-east Australia, whose work illuminates histories and knowledge systems that permeate and connect our landscapes, and inscribing them in our contemporary consciousness. He will present a new commission for Performance Space employed the gnarled root systems of ancient Australian Cypress tress. These silvered stumps are remnants of the mass-clearing of ancestral lands that occurred throughout the nineteenth-century, as European occupation forged into the interior and displaced traditional owners from their lands. |
