Description Chosen to be the inaugural production at the Studio Theatre, Victorian Arts Centre, this season of Jack Hibberd's classic play starred comic actor Stephen Kearney, the youngest performer to take on the iconic role of Monk O'Neill. Hibberd remarked at the time that "Stretch is a vivid celebration of a uniquely Australian personality. Both [director] Lois and myself are interested in a re-interpretation relevant to 1984. It is important that we recognise that society's misfits are getting younger; Stephen illuminates that new generation."
