Notes The Cleveland Orchestra was formed in 1918 giving its first performance at Gray's Armory in Cleveland under Nikolai Sokoloff. Their first appearance at New York's Carnegie Hall on 24 January 1922 inaugurated a series of regular visits. In 1931 the orchestra moved into Severance Hall built for it.
