"The story follows an Australian journalist reporting on the siege of Sarajevo by rebel Bosnian Serbs during the early 1990s. As his name suggests, Clark Cant is not a fully formed character but a cartoonish figure, a caricature of a journalist, a journey-man or Everyman. But while Clark is a central point of reference and resemblance for the audience, Clark in Sarajevo is not primarily a moralistic tale, a didactic critique of the Western media's role in turning war into a safe spectacle for domestic consumption.
