| Description |
"Kuniko Kisanuki is a modern dancer neither imitative of Western dance forms nor of traditional Japanese arts. Kuniko tells a story from her childhood that bears on her relation to dance. She had captured butterflies in a net and put them in a basket. Returning home, her mother explained that even the smallest insect has its own life. By the time she went to release them, the butterfles were dead. She buried them and later had a dream in which the powder from the butterflies' wings was falling from the sky and attaching itself to her face and lips. Around that time I began to dance" |
