Description Arcade was originally choreographed for the Pennsylvania Ballet under the auspices of the National Choreography Project with funding from The Rockefeller Foundation, Exxon Corporation and the National Endowment for the Arts. Pictures portrays the latent mobility captured in pictures or photographs. Hidden dances for an unseen audience are captured in flat alignments of linked dancers. Roadrunners is danced with unashamed wit and a sense of fun. Musician John Cage reads extracts in English and Chinese depicting a world of strange, magical beings. The dancers too seem to be in some kind of Wonderland as they hop about and explore their new environment.
