| Description |
… A deeply personal reimagined production … about as far away as one could get from the beloved traditional work. Gone are the tutus, pointe shoes and enchanting sets; instead, it is stripped back to the bare elements, but still set to Tchaikovsky's haunting score. Instead of being a fairy tale prince, Siegfried… is dressed in a suit emphasising the humanness and mortality of his character. Following a heart-breaking diagnosis, his swans representing hope (White Swan) and temptation (Black Swan) help to create the tale of his journey while battling his inner torments with the help of the mysterious Von Rothbart. The many pas de deux between Siegfried and Von Rothbart are breathtaking highlights in this make-driven performance. |
