| Description |
Lancet's Rite of Spring is in two parts. The first is set in a ballet company's rehearsal studio and pays homage to the period when Nijinsky and Stravinsky created the work. It is a period of decay and the ballet master of the company is trading his dancers badly, to the point of torture. The dancers rebel and at the end of the first act throw the ballet master out and destroy the set. In the second half they have to rebuild from the ashes, hatch form their tutus like butterflies from chrysalis, and dance once more. |
