Description |
Based on the novel "The Playmaker" by Thomas Keneally, and written by Timberlake Wertenbaker. The story is of Australia's first dramatic performance, by convicts, of George Farquhar's "The Recruiting Officer" in 4th June 1788. |

American production. The Hartford Stage Company presented this first at their home venue in Connecticut. It then toured to Broadway for this seson of performances. NLA Collection also contains two journal papers about Wertenbaker and the writing and production of "Our Country's Good'.
