| Description |
For the inhabitants of the remote community of Leenane in Connemara, County Galway, life offers little cause for optimism. Maureen Folan feels like anything but a beauty queen. A lifetime spent caring for her complaining elderly mother, Mag, has robbed Maureen of any glimmer of romance. Throughout the interminable days she cooks Mag's porridge and stirs the lumps out of her Complan. Australian soap operas provide the only escape from reality. When the chance for a new life presents itself to Maureen, Mag's fear of being left alone sends both women hurtling down a path of self-destruction. |
