Description Michael and Simon, two middle-aged brothers, meet for the first time in years at their family bach in the Coromandel, scene of countless childhood memories. Michael, a journalist, is home from England in a last-ditch attempt to begin a career as a creative writer. Older brother Simon is a middle bracket lawyer in a troubled marriage. He and his wife Sally have come for some 'quality time'. They arrive to discover that in their absence the regional council has erected a public toilet right next door to the bach. Bruised by career disappointment, burned by relationship failure, battered by identity politics, the two brothers decide it's time to make a stand. The Bach is a hilarious dissection of middle class white New Zealand. Circa 2005 brochure. A family bach in the Coromandel is the backdrop for a blistering exposŽ of middle-class angst as two fortysomething brothers hook up there for the first time in years. Think Roger Hall, but with a malevolent edge.
