Henry is a successful West End playwright whose affair with Annie, the wife of the leading man in his play House of Cards, turns into the Real Thing - love and marriage. Charlotte, Henry's first wife, bitterly calls him the last romantic, and this is how he sees himself. He believes in commitment and loving with his whole being. It is not until Annie has an affair with a young actor that he has to question his basic assumptions, and through suffering comes to a better understanding of his marriage and his life. |
