| Description |
Jean Giraudoux sees the Universe as populated with a new robot-like species of people. His is a world where 'nothing is free to give itself away any more' - suicide is a crime against the state - and 'where even the pigeons can't afford to fly'; they walk. The co-incidence of Giraudoux's writing a play attacking economic rationalism seems almost to good to be true. |
