| Description |
These People comprises a series of slice-of-life vignettes shot through with humour and melancholy. An expectant mother bemoans her partner’s lack of interest. A father and daughter attempt a difficult reconciliation. A woman waits at a flooded subway station, unsure if she’ll be able to get home. Against a backdrop of environmental collapse and social division, these people struggle for connection in an increasingly fragmented and atomised world. In their hopes, fears, and anxieties we see our own reflected back at us. The play’s innovative structure likewise reflects the loss of life’s grand narrative, its dozens of individual scenes able to be arranged in any order. |
