| Description |
His Royal Highness Prince Alfred laid the foundation-stone of the New Town Hall, on Saturday, on the land known as the old burial ground in George-street. Notwithstanding it was intended to have the affair as private as possible, the fact that the ceremony was about to take place, soon became known, and a considerable number of persons were collected on the spot long before the appointed hour; and when the ceremony was performed there could not have been less than from fifteen hundred to two thousand persons present. |
