| Description |
Aida Amirkhanian opened the program with a solo piece, About Love, a slightly sad and faintly cynical view, reflecting shades of bitterness over a mantle of acceptance. Amirkhanian reaches out to her audience, as though imploring them to accept her, a stance which is ultimately self-defeating, and she again withdraws. The same theme emerges even more explicitly in her revived work, Lonliness..., in which a migrant woman reaches out for contact with an Australian woman, whose fears or prejudices prevent her from responding, leaving the former once more alone. |
