| Description |
Alain Platel's world is inhabited by misfits, outcasts and extraordinary characters. His style of dance theatre explodes convention - even the world 'Ballet' is an irony - it comments on contemporary life and speaks direct to the heart. In contrast to the apparently chaotic lives of Platel's memorable cast of dancers, actors, fairground artists and children, Bach's music, performed live by Roel Dieltiens' twe;ve strong baroque music ensemble, is all harmony and reason. But in this show where contrasts are embraced and extremes connected, the match is perfect and surprising. Iets op Bach is a slice of life in the raw - a bold and inspiring work of art. Its images are sometimes uncomfortable, at other times achingly beautiful. You cannot fail to be moved. |
